Storyboard Director

Bringing your story to life at one frame

A storyboard director is a creative professional who oversees the creation of storyboards for films, TV shows, commercials, and visual media. They work closely with the creative team, including writers, directors, and producers, to translate their vision into a visual format that can be used to guide the production process. A good storyboard director should have strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with others. They should also have a good understanding of storytelling, cinematography, and animation, as well as the experience of working in the industry. Additionally, a strong portfolio of work is essential for standing out in a competitive field.

Responsibilities
  • Overseeing the creation of storyboards for films, TV shows, commercials, and visual media.

  • Collaborating with the creative team, including writers, directors, and producers, to convert their vision into a visual format that can be used to guide the production process.

  • Managing a team of storyboard artists.

  • Providing feedback and direction.

  • Ensuring that the storyboards are consistent with the creative vision.

  • Making sure that the storyboards are completed on time and within budget.

  • A good understanding of storytelling, cinematography, and animation.

  • Experience of working in the industry.

Qualifications
  • 4 or more years of experience in a creative and artistic field, such as drawing, designing, illustrating, painting, rotoscoping, digitizing, modelling, or sketching things for video games, TV shows, animated shorts, comics/manga or movies.

  • A combination of creative talent, leadership skills, and experience.

  • A baccalaureate or bachelor's degree arts, designs, or a related field can be, but is not always necessary.

    • Formal training in art, animation, or film.

  • A strong understanding of storytelling, cinematography, and animation.

  • Experience of working in the industry.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • The ability to work collaboratively others.

  • The ability to provide feedback and direction to a team of storyboard artists.

  • Experience of working in a leadership role.

  • A strong and essential portfolio of work.

  • Working knowledge, proficiency, excellence, and mastery in the following list of graphics software:
