Description
Space Monsters is the first top-down shooter video game Psoaic has ever made with a game engine, and of course the first installment of the Space Monsters legacy of futuristic top-down shooter video games. Inspired and influenced by shooter video games that fend off aliens, zombies, monsters and other hostile creatures like Alien Shooter, Alien Breed, Alien Swarm, Crimsonland, Space Invaders, Half-Life, Doom and The House of the Dead, this game has a strong futuristic and alien invasion theme for a sci-fi genre with some elements of a role-playing game, including in-game currency, experience points, skill points, equipment system and even inventory.
The game itself takes place in a timeline between the spectacular years 2025 and 2026. Chronologically, both of these years are for the first and second campaigns respectively. However, in order to continuously move on to another story, the first campaign must be completed before unlocking the second campaign.
The story of this game follows a horrifying event in the year 2025. Before the alien visitation, Earth has evolved with the vast involvements of very modern technologies, vastly improved designs and more, while people are examining the scientific studies about the surface of earth, discovering the strange and mysterious creatures. However, when the teleportation devices from a faraway extraterrestrial dimension are heading to the planet Earth, people have reported and feared that the space aliens are going to incidentally take the humanity itself out of the entire planet, and make their planet an alien home world to have enough resources. Specifically, the only target the alien devices fall on is the Long Passage Headquarters, a complex that made up of office for business, facilities, sewer, laboratories, factory and military bases, and can be located in Stuckholmes City. In addition to that, it is found somewhere in the Western United States. Once they are successfully landed, they aggressively unleash the hordes of menacing aliens to take over the complex, wipe out all the humanity, infest anywhere inside and outside, conquer with the underling-controlling alien mastermind named Roki, and soon dominate the Earth entirely to overrun civilizations and habitats instead of planetary crisis in their alien home world. So the alien invasion has begun here on Earth with a terrifying incident in the complex, where the humans left abandoned because of alien infestation, and humanity is in peril now.
Meanwhile, the marine-tasked military organization known as the Investigative Force, under the leadership of General Roy Malcolm Baxter, reports that the complex is entirely infested by the merciless space aliens as well before they take over the world. If they are still threatening the humankind itself, then the I.F dispatches the best of its recruited military operatives with a chance to importantly perform these case-related operations: clear out the infestations in offices, facilities, warehouses and laboratories of the complex. Also, they are required to go ahead and get explosive military weapons and equipment to surely open up the sealed doors into secret areas that contain usefully accessible security systems and measures, but there will possibly be a heavy stationary two-turreted automatic cannon that is available and used for mowing down enemies. Following the received casualties of the previous military assault, the government grants the I.F operatives access to the availability of the most advanced weapons in many hopes of solving a problem caused by an incident. The military survivors of I.F have efforts to immediately join the resistance against hostile aliens in the complex and save humanity from total extinction as the result when time goes on.
Instead of taking place in the complex of the first campaign, the second campaign takes places in an unknown complex, Stuckholmes City and the alien-occupied cave.
One year after the 2025 incident in a military-business complex known as the Long Passage Headquarters, humanity has been rejoicing its freedom from the alien menace that came to an end. However, another alien mastermind named Syrax will be the next one to succeed Roki, continue works similar to the previous alien incident in the cave, and avenge the death of its friend as a successor. Then the revival of extraterrestrial life on earth has begun and another incident comes to cause dangerous threats against humanity once again. To investigate this incident, each military operative must stop Syrax, who is behind this horrific responsibility, and its evil plans to have world domination by overrunning Earth.
Be a hero of the final hope and the fate of humanity is upon you.
